Julia Lucas, 23, of Mammoth Lakes, CA, showed promise as a collegiate runner for North Carolina State. She placed fourth at the 2007 NCAA 5000-meter Championship and fifth at the 2006 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Her PRs included a 9:03 in the 3000 meters and a 15:50 in the 5000 meters.
In her first national championships race as a Team Running USA member, Lucas placed ninth in the 2008 USA Cross Country Championships on February 16 with a time of 27:13. Next up for Lucas is the NYRR Women’s Invitational, part of the Central Park Challenge in New York City on March 15. > Read more.
